HELLS GATE STATE PARK ANNOUNCES COMMUNITY EVENT
LEWISTON – Residents of Lewiston and the Lewis Clark Valley are invited to join Hells Gate State Park for a special community service event, assisting with rehabilitation projects within the park, May 11, 2013 beginning at 8-9 a.m.
“Over 200 residents have already committed to participate,” said Hells Gate State Park Ranger, Nate Blackburn. “With help, Hells Gate State Park can be the best in the Northwest; we’re appreciative to have so many supporters to assist with much needed projects within the park” he added.
Volunteers are needed to help paint park facilities and general seasonal landscaping, weed and brush removal.
Supplies and refreshments will be provided, but please bring your own gloves and protective clothing.
Those interested in volunteering should meet at the Large Day Use Shelter, located within Hells Gate State Park. For additional information, please contact Nate Blackburn at (208)799-5015.
“Volunteers contribute so much each year to help keep our parks open and accessible,” said Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) Director, Nancy Merrill. “We rely on their support and appreciate their contributions.”
Park beautification events offer individuals and families an opportunity to take pride and ownership in their local public places while meeting new people.
Idaho’s Department of Parks and Recreation manages 30 state parks and recreation areas throughout Idaho. The mission of the agency is to improve the quality of life in Idaho through outdoor recreation and resource stewardship.
