REMINDER: NEW, SMALLER NORTH BEACH CAPACITY
McCall (June 24, 2013) - With the Fourth of July weekend fast approaching, the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation(IDPR) would like to issue a reminder of the rules in effect for the North Beach area of Ponderosa State Park, McCall.
The year-round, enforced capacity of North Beach is now 750 people and all day use areas at North Beach are “Pack it in – Pack it out”.
“The new, smaller North Beach capacity is an effort to bring numbers of users down to the ability of the park facilities to accommodate their usage,” said Ponderosa State Park Manager, Richard Taplin. “Additionally, visitors are required to pack out all their trash; there will be no trash containers or pick up at any of the day use areas at North Beach. Visitor cooperation in keeping these areas clean is much appreciated.”
Special road usage regulations are also in effect for Eastside Road at North Beach for the Fourth of July weekend (July 4-7, 2013). Vehicle traffic will be one way on Eastside road, direction of travel will be from Warren Wagon road south towards Tamarack Bay Condominiums.
“During these specified days only 60 vehicles will be allowed to park on Eastside Road,” said Taplin. “Once capacity has been reached, Eastside road will be closed by the Valley County Sheriff Department to all vehicle traffic and vehicles will be turned around at the intersection of Warren Wagon road and Eastside road.”
To accommodate the anticipated number of individuals wanting to access North Beach on July Fourth, a bus shuttle service is being provided by Harlows Bus Company. The shuttle services is for July 4 only. There will not be a shuttle for the remainder of the weekend and only 60 vehicles will be allowed to park on Eastside road. The public is encouraged to use the shuttle service on July 4 to reduce congestion on the road, and provide safe transportation to and from the beach. The bus service will be located at the McCall Donnelly High School parking lot. The shuttles will start transporting people to North Beach at noon and will continue until North Beach reaches the 750 person limit. The shuttles will transport individuals back to the High School parking lot until 6 pm in the evening. The cost of the service is $5 for round trip or $3 for one way trip. Harlows will accept cash only.
